Bridge Safety and Structural Health Monitoring

Bridge safety and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) are integral to civil engineering and transportation infrastructure. Bridges, significant investments for societies, must be safeguarded for commuter safety and asset protection. Leveraging advanced technology, real-time data monitoring through SHM detects anomalies and addresses potential issues proactively. This approach enhances safety and extends bridge lifespans, ensuring reliability amidst evolving transportation needs and environmental factors.

SHM Algorithm

In recent years, the concept of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has gradually emerged. This involves using acceleration sensors to measure structural vibration information. The proposed algorithm is based on the Ormsby wavelet filter to calculate inter-story drift ratio (IDR), and is combined with HAZUS damage indices to provide users with a basis for structural damage detection.
